United States prohibits lithium batteries in checked baggage

Batteries must be carried in hand luggage when traveling by plane.

The United States is already implementing the prohibition of lithium-ion batteries inside the checked baggage in air travel to and from that country.

This regulation was imposed by the Department of Transportation and the Federal Aviation Administration and aims to provide greater security to air transport.

The prohibition of lithium batteries in the hold of the aircraft affects devices such as laptops, tablets, phones and even the new smart suitcases.

Possibly, the shipment of certain electronic devices purchased over the Internet could also be affected.

That is why, from now on, all our devices with this type of batteries should travel in hand luggage.

Authorities say that lithium batteries have a potential fire risk, which is why they must go in the passenger cabin where they have human supervision and where a possible fire can be identified and controlled more quickly.
