Last Saturday, we had the opportunity to visit the expo fair that takes place within the framework of the Pinto River Challenge (Desafío al Río Pinto), one of the most important cycling competitions in Latin America.
La Cumbre is a town of 8,000 inhabitants located only 80 kilometers from the city of Córdoba, in the center of Argentina.
Since 1996 the Pinto River Challenge has been held here, a cycling competition that attracts athletes from Argentina and other countries. This event grows year by year in number of cyclists and in the 2019 edition about 5,000 athletes participated.
The Pinto River Challenge takes place every year, almost always during the first weekend of May. While in the month of October takes place the Rematch to Pinto River, a shorter version of the race and with a different circuit.
This 2019 edition of the competition includes 85 kilometers of route through mountainous terrain and dirt roads.
The starting point is located in the city of La Cumbre and the itinerary goes north to the Pinto River valley and the small town of San Marcos Sierra, from where the return through the northern region of the Punilla valley begins, crossing the towns of Capilla del Monte and San Esteban until finishing once again at La Cumbre.
Although the competition for the Pinto River Challenge took place on Sunday, May 5, we were able to go through the city a day earlier, on Saturday, and take a walk through the fair where many stalls sell bicycles, clothing for cyclists, spare parts and elements to maintain the bikes and much more.
The place was full of visitors and also had many food stalls, sports activities, lectures by sports experts and musical shows.
In this article we publish photographs of what was seen in the fair and exhibition of this 2019 edition of the Pinto River Challenge in Argentina.
Very soon we will continue touring more of this beautiful city and other destinations in the Province of Córdoba 😉
